 Reading Promotion Week: Celebrating the Joy of Reading

“Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.” – Joseph Addison

Reading is one of the most powerful habits that can shape a child’s personality, imagination, vocabulary, creativity, and understanding of the world. With the aim of developing a love for books and encouraging students to make reading a regular part of their lives, Reading Promotion Week was organized at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Babina Cantt, Jhansi.

The week-long programme provided students with an opportunity to explore the wonderful world of books beyond their textbooks. The school library became a lively space where students read, shared ideas, listened to stories, participated in competitions, and expressed their thoughts creatively.

 A Week Full of Reading Activities

During the Reading Promotion Week, a variety of age-appropriate activities were organized for students of different classes. These activities were designed not only to promote reading but also to develop communication skills, confidence, creativity, and critical thinking.

Reading Beyond the Textbook

One of the major objectives of Reading Promotion Week was to help students understand that reading is not limited to textbooks. Storybooks, biographies, comics, newspapers, magazines, travelogues, poems, science books, and other forms of literature can open doors to new experiences and ideas.

The activities encouraged students to visit the library regularly, select books according to their interests, and share their reading experiences with friends and teachers.

Building a Lifelong Reading Habit

Developing a reading habit requires regular encouragement and opportunities. A child who reads regularly gradually develops better vocabulary, comprehension, concentration, imagination, and communication skills.

The school library plays an important role in this process by providing students with access to a wide variety of books and creating a welcoming environment for reading.

Reading Promotion Week was therefore not just a week of competitions and activities; it was an effort to create lifelong readers.

 The Joy of Books

Books have the power to take us to different places, introduce us to different cultures, help us understand people, and inspire us to dream. Every book offers a new experience and every page has something to teach.

The enthusiasm and participation of the students during Reading Promotion Week reflected their curiosity and love for learning. The programme also reinforced the message that a good book can become a lifelong friend.

A Step Towards a Reading Culture

Reading Promotion Week was a meaningful initiative towards developing a strong reading culture among students. Through storytelling, poetry, book reviews, and library activities, students were encouraged to discover the pleasure of reading and make books an integral part of their daily lives.

Let us continue to encourage our children to “Read, Explore, Imagine and Grow.”

 World Thinking Day 2026

World Thinking Day is celebrated on 22 February every year. It is a special day for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts all over the world. The day is guided by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and encourages young people to think about global issues like friendship, equality, and helping others.

On World Thinking Day, students and Guide groups take part in activities such as school assemblies, discussions on important topics, service projects, and cultural programs. These activities help children learn about different countries, respect diversity, and develop leadership and teamwork skills.

World Thinking Day teaches us that even small ideas and actions can make a big difference in the world when we work together with kindness and understanding.

प्यारे बच्चों,
आज हम हिंदी साहित्य के एक महान कवि सूर्यकांत त्रिपाठी ‘निराला’ की जयंती के अवसर पर उन्हें याद करने के लिए एकत्रित हुए हैं। उनका जन्म 16 फरवरी 1896 को हुआ था। वे छायावाद युग के प्रमुख कवियों में से एक थे और उन्होंने हिंदी साहित्य को एक नई दिशा दी।

बच्चों, निराला जी केवल एक कवि ही नहीं थे, बल्कि वे एक संवेदनशील और साहसी व्यक्तित्व के धनी थे। उन्होंने अपने जीवन में अनेक कठिनाइयों का सामना किया, लेकिन कभी हार नहीं मानी। उन्होंने अपने अनुभवों और भावनाओं को कविताओं के माध्यम से व्यक्त किया। उनकी रचनाओं में प्रकृति प्रेम, मानवता और सामाजिक न्याय की भावना स्पष्ट दिखाई देती है।

उन्होंने समाज में फैली कुरीतियों और अन्याय के विरुद्ध आवाज उठाई। उनकी प्रसिद्ध रचनाएँ आज भी हमें सोचने और समझने की प्रेरणा देती हैं। उनकी भाषा सरल होने के साथ-साथ गहरी भावनाओं से भरी होती थी, इसलिए उनकी कविताएँ सीधे हृदय को स्पर्श करती हैं।

प्यारे विद्यार्थियों, निराला जी का जीवन हमें यह सिखाता है कि चाहे परिस्थितियाँ कैसी भी हों, हमें अपने लक्ष्य से कभी पीछे नहीं हटना चाहिए। हमें भी उनकी तरह सत्य, साहस और रचनात्मकता को अपने जीवन में अपनाना चाहिए।

आइए, उनकी जयंती पर हम सभी यह संकल्प लें कि हम अपने जीवन में मेहनत, ईमानदारी और संवेदनशीलता को स्थान देंगे और साहित्य तथा ज्ञान के माध्यम से समाज को बेहतर बनाने का प्रयास करेंगे।

 

The Importance of Time Management

Time is one of the most valuable resources we have. Every day offers twenty-four hours, and how we choose to use them shapes our productivity, success, and overall well-being. Time management is the skill of planning and organizing tasks so that we can make the best use of our available time.

Managing time effectively helps reduce stress and increases efficiency. When tasks are planned properly, there is less confusion and fewer last-minute pressures. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, a person can work with clarity and confidence. This leads to better results in studies, professional life, and personal responsibilities.

One of the key elements of time management is setting clear goals. When goals are specific, it becomes easier to decide which tasks are most important. Creating a daily schedule or to-do list can help in organizing activities. Prioritizing important tasks, avoiding unnecessary distractions, and completing work step by step are practical ways to stay on track.

Time management also creates balance. It allows space not only for work but also for rest, hobbies, family, and self-care. A well-planned day brings a sense of control and satisfaction.

In conclusion, time once gone can never be recovered. Learning to manage it wisely is a lifelong skill that leads to productivity, peace of mind, and success. By valuing time and using it thoughtfully, anyone can achieve their goals and build a more organized life.

READING PROMOTION WEEK -3

पठन प्रोत्साहन सप्ताह 

 पठन प्रोत्साहन सप्ताह के अंतर्गत विद्यार्थियों में पढ़ने की रुचि विकसित करने हेतु चयनित गतिविधियाँ आयोजित की गईं। इस दौरान पठन के महत्व को दर्शाने हेतु विद्यार्थियों द्वारा एक प्रभावशाली नाटक (स्किट) प्रस्तुत किया गया, जिससे पुस्तकों के जीवन में महत्व को सरल एवं रोचक ढंग से समझाया गया। कक्षा 6 के विद्यार्थियों के बीच हस्तलेखन प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया गया, जिसमें विद्यार्थियों ने सुंदर एवं स्पष्ट लेखन का प्रदर्शन किया। इसके अतिरिक्त कविता पाठ  आयोजित की गई, जिसमें विद्यार्थियों ने आत्मविश्वास के साथ भावपूर्ण काव्य प्रस्तुति दी। साथ ही विद्यार्थियों के ज्ञान एवं पठन-समझ को परखने हेतु प्रश्नोत्तरी प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया गया। इन सभी गतिविधियों के माध्यम से विद्यार्थियों में पठन के प्रति उत्साह एवं सकारात्मक दृष्टिकोण विकसित हुआ।

 

भारतीय सेना दिवस: निःस्वार्थ सेवा, साहस और मानवता का प्रतीक

भारतीय सेना दिवस प्रत्येक वर्ष 15 जनवरी को मनाया जाता है। यह दिन हमारे देश की भारतीय थल सेना को सम्मान देने का अवसर है, जो दिन-रात सीमाओं की रक्षा करते हुए देश की एकता, अखंडता और नागरिकों की सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करती है। 15 जनवरी 1949 को फील्ड मार्शल के. एम. करिअप्पा ने भारतीय सेना के प्रथम भारतीय सेनाध्यक्ष के रूप में पदभार ग्रहण किया था। इसी ऐतिहासिक स्मृति में यह दिवस मनाया जाता है।

भारतीय सेना केवल हथियारों और युद्धक रणनीतियों की पहचान नहीं है, बल्कि यह त्याग, अनुशासन, कर्तव्य और मानवता की जीवंत मिसाल है। जब हम सुरक्षित अपने घरों में सोते हैं, तब हमारे सैनिक बर्फीली चोटियों, तपते रेगिस्तानों और घने जंगलों में देश की रक्षा में तैनात रहते हैं। उनका जीवन कठिनाइयों से भरा होता है, फिर भी उनके चेहरे पर देश के प्रति गर्व और सेवा का भाव झलकता है।

युद्ध के समय ही नहीं, बल्कि प्राकृतिक आपदाओं, बाढ़, भूकंप, महामारी और राहत कार्यों में भी भारतीय सेना सबसे पहले मदद के लिए आगे आती है। संकट में फँसे नागरिकों को सुरक्षित निकालना, भोजन और दवाइयाँ पहुँचाना—ये सभी कार्य सेना के मानवीय पक्ष को दर्शाते हैं। यही कारण है कि भारतीय सेना देशवासियों के दिलों में विशेष स्थान रखती है।

भारतीय सेना दिवस हमें यह सोचने का अवसर देता है कि स्वतंत्रता और शांति कितनी कीमती हैं और इन्हें बनाए रखने के लिए कितने परिवार अपने प्रियजनों को देश सेवा के लिए समर्पित करते हैं। यह दिन केवल परेड और सम्मान का नहीं, बल्कि कृतज्ञता और संवेदना व्यक्त करने का दिन है।

पुस्तकालय के रूप में हमारा दायित्व है कि हम युवाओं को सेना के इतिहास, वीरता गाथाओं और मूल्यों से परिचित कराएँ, ताकि उनमें देशभक्ति, जिम्मेदारी और मानवता की भावना विकसित हो।

भारतीय सेना दिवस हमें याद दिलाता है कि सच्ची शक्ति हथियारों में नहीं, बल्कि सेवा, बलिदान और मानवीय मूल्यों में निहित होती है।

 विश्व हिंदी दिवस: भाषा, संस्कृति और वैश्विक पहचान

विश्व हिंदी दिवस प्रत्येक वर्ष 10 जनवरी को मनाया जाता है। इस दिवस का मुख्य उद्देश्य अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर हिंदी भाषा के प्रचार-प्रसार को बढ़ावा देना तथा उसकी सांस्कृतिक, साहित्यिक और बौद्धिक महत्ता को विश्व समुदाय के समक्ष प्रस्तुत करना है। यह दिन 1975 में नागपुर में आयोजित प्रथम विश्व हिंदी सम्मेलन की स्मृति में मनाया जाता है, जिसमें अनेक देशों के विद्वानों और साहित्यकारों ने भाग लिया था।

हिंदी विश्व की सबसे अधिक बोली जाने वाली भाषाओं में से एक है और यह करोड़ों लोगों की मातृभाषा, संपर्क भाषा और भावनाओं की अभिव्यक्ति का माध्यम है। हिंदी ने भारत की राष्ट्रीय एकता और सांस्कृतिक विविधता को जोड़ने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई है। साहित्य, कविता, कथा, नाटक और पत्रकारिता के क्षेत्र में हिंदी का योगदान अत्यंत समृद्ध और प्रेरणादायक रहा है।

आज के आधुनिक और डिजिटल युग में हिंदी का दायरा निरंतर विस्तृत हो रहा है। सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी, सोशल मीडिया, मोबाइल ऐप्स, ई-गवर्नेंस और कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता जैसे क्षेत्रों में हिंदी की उपस्थिति मजबूत होती जा रही है। इससे यह स्पष्ट होता है कि हिंदी न केवल परंपरागत भाषा है, बल्कि समय के साथ विकसित होती एक आधुनिक और सक्षम भाषा भी है।

विश्व हिंदी दिवस के अवसर पर भारत तथा विदेशों में साहित्यिक गोष्ठियाँ, कवि सम्मेलन, वाद-विवाद प्रतियोगिताएँ, निबंध लेखन और सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए जाते हैं। इन गतिविधियों के माध्यम से नई पीढ़ी को हिंदी भाषा के प्रति जागरूक और प्रेरित किया जाता है।

अतः विश्व हिंदी दिवस हमें यह संदेश देता है कि हम हिंदी का गौरवपूर्ण प्रयोग करें, उसका संरक्षण करें और वैश्विक स्तर पर उसकी प्रतिष्ठा को और सुदृढ़ करें। हिंदी के विकास से ही हमारी सांस्कृतिक पहचान और बौद्धिक विरासत सुरक्षित रह सकती है।

 World Braille Day: Changing the World with Lives by Touch.

The World Braille Day is celebrated on 4 January each year as a commemoration of the birth date of Louis Braille, the inventor of the Braille system of reading and writing among the visually impaired persons. This day brings out the role of Braille as a strong resource in education, communication and self-reliance.

Braille is a physical writing system, which employs bulky dots such that persons with eyesight can write and read using their hands. Braille is very much more than a script, it is equal access to knowledge and the right to literacy. It is very instrumental in the educational process, jobs, and social integration of millions of humans across the globe.

In the modern digital world, Braille has been further developed in terms of Braille displays, embossers, and further with the help of assistive technologies, to ensure that the information is as accessible as in all other formats. World Braille Day makes governments, educators, and communities aware of the importance of inclusive education as well as delivering accessible information to citizens.

Through Braille literacy awareness creation, we are a step towards a society where disability is not the determinant of opportunity. World Braille Day is a challenge to accept diversity, affirm human rights and ensure that the world is indeed inclusive to everyone.

HUMAN RIGHTS DAY

 

Every year on December 10th, Human Rights Day is celebrated to honor the United Nations General Assembly's 1948 adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The day is a worldwide reminder that everyone has the right to freedom, equality, and dignity regardless of their race, religion, gender, nationality, or socioeconomic status.

CONSTITUTION DAY 2025

 

India celebrates Constitution Day, or Samvidhan Divas, every year on November 26.  The Constituent Assembly approved the Constitution of India on this day in 1949. It went into effect on January 26, 1950.

 We celebrate this day to honor the people who wrote our Constitution, especially Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, who was a key figure in writing it.  The Constitution is India's highest law. It guarantees all citizens justice, equality, freedom, and brotherhood.

 Constitution Day reminds us of our rights and responsibilities as good citizens and encourages us to support the values of democracy and unity in our country.

HAPPY CHILDREN'S DAY

 

In India, Children's Day is observed annually on November 14th to commemorate the birth of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the nation's first Prime Minister. Nehru had a deep affection for children, who affectionately referred to him as 'Chacha Nehru.' This day is dedicated to children, highlighting their rights, care, and education. Nehru believed that children represent the future of the country and should be nurtured with love, care, and a proper education to become responsible citizens. He consistently stressed that a nation's progress is linked to how it nurtures and educates its youth. Schools across the country celebrate Children's Day with great enthusiasm, organizing various activities such as songs, dances, sports, fancy dress, and drawing competitions to make children feel special and joyful. Teachers and parents also join in by arranging fun activities and giving gifts or sweets to the children. This day serves as a reminder that every child deserves love, education, and a safe environment to reach their full potential. It is also an opportunity to raise awareness about child rights and the importance of child welfare. Let us honor Children's Day by committing to creating a world where every child is healthy, educated, and happy, as they are the bright future of India. National Education Day 2025

 

National Education Day is observed annually on November 11 throughout India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of independent India. This day honors his visionary leadership and monumental contributions to shaping the country’s educational landscape. Maulana Azad’s belief that education is the foundation of national progress remains a guiding principle in India’s ongoing educational development.

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was a reformer, scholar, and freedom fighter whose deep commitment to education was intertwined with his dedication to India’s independence and social reform. He envisioned an inclusive educational system that would empower all sections of society and foster scientific and technical advancement. His approach emphasized not only literacy but also the development of higher education and research institutions to build a self-reliant nation.

Serving as Education Minister from 1947 to 1958, Maulana Azad laid the groundwork for India’s modern educational framework. Some of his key initiatives include:

Establishment of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs): Recognizing the need for world-class technical education, he championed the creation of IITs, which have since become premier institutions producing skilled engineers and technologists vital for India’s industrial growth.

Formation of the University Grants Commission (UGC): To ensure quality and uniform standards in higher education, Maulana Azad founded the UGC. This body continues to regulate and promote academic excellence across universities in India.

Promotion of Scientific and Technical Education: Understanding the role of science and technology in national development, he emphasized expanding access to these fields, encouraging research, and integrating modern curricula.

Educational Reforms: He advocated for broadening educational access, improving infrastructure, and fostering a culture of learning that would support the nation’s socio-economic progress.

Significance of National Education Day

National Education Day serves as a reminder of Maulana Azad’s vision and the critical role education plays in nation-building. It inspires educational institutions, policymakers, and citizens to renew their commitment to learning, innovation, and equality in education. The day is marked by seminars, workshops, and cultural events aimed at promoting awareness about the importance of education in shaping a progressive society.

WORLD DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION DAY

Every year on October 24, people around the world celebrate World Development Information Day. The point of this day is to make people all over the world think about development problems and how important it is to work together more to fix them. It is also United Nations Day, which is a day to talk about how important it is to share information and raise awareness about global issues like poverty, education, health, and long-term growth.

The main goal of this day is to teach people, especially young people, how sharing information and technology can help people in developing countries have better lives. It reminds us that getting correct and timely information is important for making the world a better and more equal place.
